Encaustic
I took a workshop at R&F Paints in painting over ten years ago and have started exploring this medium. It lends itself well to a collage style where other images can be transferred onto the wax surface. Since the wax has to be in a molten state to paint with, as soon as it cools, it hardens and sets. However, it can be reheated to be manipulated with a heat gun, blowtorch, how metal spatula or other such devices. I consider myself a novice in this medium, but continue to enjoy the experimentation with encaustic paint.
I used encaustic with my on going series, “Down and Across” with the painting “Fiona”. I’m currently working on another encaustic painting “Opposites Attract”.
